"Then spoke the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision Be not afraid but speak and hold not thy peace For I am with thee and no one shall set on thee to hurt thee for I have much people in this city" --Acts 18:9-10
There are times we need boldness and consolation afterwards, and there are times we need encouragement.
Paul was apparently a bit nervous about speaking in Corinth (politically incorrect to say this I’m sure). But seriously, do we really believe he relished another beating or stoning? God did not rebuke him for that. Rather, he comforted and encouraged him that, this time, he would be perfectly safe. In the times before, no doubt the boldness, courage, anointing, and consolations of the Holy Spirit sustained him. But now, the Lord was giving him a season of respite and refreshing.
