I grew up in the SBC. I serve the Lord today because I heard the gospel in SBC churches, SBC Sunday Schools, SBC GA groups, and SBC revivals. If not for that, I might have succeeded in becoming the atheist I tried so hard to become as I grew older. I owe the SBC a debt I can never repay.
That being said, the gospel is now hindered by the SBC in their alignment with the CBMW in being the movers and shakers in the patriarchal complementarian movement that bars women from preaching and serving in most leadership capacities.
So sad.
The good news is that even though men limit women in how they allow them to serve in most of their churches, NO ONE can stop women from obeying their God and fulfilling the gifts and callings given to them by their Creator. They do this wherever and however they can. Women are amazingly resourceful!
Though I see my main calling as that of Bible teacher, as with many of God's people, I have been anointed in many of the ministry and spiritual gifts, as the occasion had need. And, as with so many women, God has opened numerous doors of ministry for me, including that of pastor in more than one Church.
The day arrived over 2000 years ago when God's daughters stood boldly and publicly alongside his sons in preaching and prophesying the mighty works of God. And I long to see the day when God's daughters are permitted to stand alongside his sons as autonomous equals in our homes, ministries, and churches.
