Add to Our Faith: KNOWLEDGE

...giving all diligence, add to your faith excellence and to excellence knowledge

2 Peter 1:5

The Greek word translated as knowledge in this verse is gnosis (G1108), meaning acquired knowledge, science, intelligence, and understanding.

First and foremost, this means acquiring knowledge of God. The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. In life, everything else we learn must be tempered by the knowledge of God and put to use in the service of our Creator. others, serving our generation. This will be reflected in our service to others, by serving our generation. Whatever we do, wherever we go, our focus must be on loving [and serving] God with all our heart, soul, and strength. When we do that, we will love [and serve] others as ourselves.

How might that look? It will look different for each of us, as we are called. The Bible says, David “served" his generation. Before that happened, we know that he acquired gnosis, knowledge. Some of David's writings were holy writ. But before that, he knew what had already been written. He knew the scriptures well

Want knowledge? Start at the beginning of knowledge. Read your Bibles every day, always picking up today where you left off yesterday.
