Revelation 8:13: Which is it, an Angel or an Eagle?

Concerning Revelation 8:13 and the angel/eagle flying through the midst of the heavens preaching:

The Koine Greek of the Received Text says that it is an "aggelos," an angel, and not "eagle."

Over 5000 extant [still existing texts] say angel.

The Strong's original concordance and Berry's Interlinear, both of which are based on the Received Text, say angel.

It is the classical Greek of the Alexandrian Minority Texts that say "aetos" [eagle] instead of "aggelos" [angel] in Revelation 8:13.

My trust is in the over 5000 extant Koine Greek texts that confirm the virgin birth, deity of Christ, blood atonement, and physical resurrection, all of which teachings the relatively few in number Alexandrian and "eclectic" texts undermine.

God sent his messenger, his angel, to preach his message. Over 5000 extant texts agree that he did not send a bird of prey.

 What people are saying

“I have been studying Revelation, and this work has helped me in that study.” –David (GA)

"I have been a Christian for only one year. This study was very easy to understand and has strengthened the foundation of my faith.” –Jason (NJ)

It is not long and drawn out but simple, concise, and understandable. I was impressed with the positive reinforcement that God is a redemptive God who has made Himself known through His Word, and in these last days through His Son, Jesus. I appreciated the emphasis on The Holy Spirit being able to teach. I also like that the author weaves scripture throughout the writing. –Mona (MO)

I love how this all fits together so well! It totally disproves the idea that the Catching Up and the Second Coming are one and the same. –Samantha (USA)
