Jesus was seen by Mary, Cephas, then by The Twelve, "After
that he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once of whom the greater
part remain [are alive] to this present [day] but some are fallen asleep [have
died][1]"
[1] Paul said to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Only the bodies of believers sleep in death. The doctrine of souls sleeping is not scriptural. Upon the death of the body, the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 3:21). The soul is immediately either with the Lord, in Heaven, or in the hellish dimension of Hades or Sheol Luke 16:22-23.
