How to control our thoughts

Thoughts lead to actions. To change our actions, we must first control our thoughts.

4: For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds 5: Casting down reasonings [1] and every high thing [2] that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ [3]

2 Corinthians 10:4-5

[1] We reason from logic, but we also walk by faith and not by sight. Just because something doesn’t seem logical, doesn’t mean  it isn’t from God. The supernatural is never logical, but it’s real. The supernatural has two [and only two] opposing armies, the light and the dark. And the Bible says, the dark can deceptively appear as the light. So, the question is never, “Does this make sense? Is this logical?” The question is always, “Is this from from God or from the enemy of our souls? Is this scriptural?”–2 Corinthians 10:5

[2]  2 Corinthians 10:5, is a reference to the “Spiritual Wickedness in high places” of Ephesians 6:12. These “high things” are high ranking fallen angels [spiritual wickedness in high places] committed to opposing the knowledge of God. They can and do influence human behavior through wrong thoughts and ideas. That is why we are told in scripture to guard our hearts, be careful what we expose ourselves to through our eye-gates and ear-gates.

[3] 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us that we can control our thoughts. Every thought that comes to mind is not necessarily from us or from God. We are commanded to cast down thoughts that do not line up with scripture. Don’t entertain them, don’t dwell on them.

What do we do with wrong thoughts that would lead us into sin? If you are born-again, verbally cast them down in Jesus name. If you are not born again and you believe that Jesus Christ is the risen son of God, ask God to forgive you of your sins and save your soul based on the death and resurrection of his only begotten son. Tell your Creator you disagree with sinful thoughts, and ask for the power of the Holy Spirit in no longer entertaining them. That bird may land on your head, but you don’t have to let it build a nest there. God’s children [those who are born-again] have power through spiritual weapons that are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds in our lives.
